What is custom training content?
Custom training content is any training material built specifically around one brand’s own standards, recipes, service sequence and culture, rather than a generic off-the-shelf module. That covers courses, quizzes, SOPs, manuals, PDF guides and video, all carrying the client’s own branding. Pocket Trainer’s in-house content writers, graphic designers and video editors produce it, and it can be built from scratch or reworked from material the client already has.
Who builds the training content: us or Pocket Trainer?
Either. Pocket Trainer is built around clients creating, uploading and managing their own material, with an interface designed to make that straightforward for non-technical managers. Clients who prefer not to build content themselves can hire Pocket Trainer’s in-house team to create it, and new clients almost always receive some free custom content as part of their agreement. Most groups use both: they upload their own SOPs and brand standards, and commission custom courses for the areas they do not have material for.
Do we have to design the content ourselves?
No. The food, cocktail and wine guides are pre-built frameworks: managers type the information into structured fields and the platform formats and presents it, so nobody needs design skills or a template. Clients who would rather not do the typing send everything they have, in whatever state it is in, and Pocket Trainer’s team works out what belongs where and builds it during onboarding. Either route ends with the same result, a fully structured digital food and drinks guide the team can search and filter on a phone.
How do we build courses and quizzes with AI?
Courses are built manually by adding your own content directly, uploading documents, recording or uploading video, or linking material already sitting in the document store, so SOPs and brand standards you have written become courses without being rewritten. Quizzes can be built the same way, or generated by AI from three sources: text you type or paste, a menu category, or an uploaded PDF. You control the output rather than accepting whatever the AI produces: set the number of questions, the difficulty, the question types, and optional topics to focus on. Everything the AI generates is fully editable, so admins can reword questions, add new ones or delete any they do not want before the quiz goes live. AI quiz generation is switched off by default, so it only runs if your organisation enables it, and it works strictly from the content you have entered rather than inventing anything from general knowledge. Passing rates and attempt limits are set by the admin, correction and scoring are automatic, and a “Check my answers” step gives staff feedback immediately after the final quiz.
How long does it take to produce a custom course?
A PDF course takes 4 to 6 working days, depending on length and how quickly the client returns feedback. The process runs through discovery, agreement and kick-off, content writing and first draft, client review, design, a second client review, and final handover. Client review turnaround is usually the variable that decides the timeline, not production capacity.
What formats are available for custom courses?
Custom content is produced as PDF courses, video courses, or both together. Every package includes consultation, research, expert content writing, professional graphic or video design, client branding, certification on completion, quizzes in every chapter plus a final quiz, and a set number of revision rounds. Video courses suit practical skills where staff need to see the sequence, PDF suits knowledge and process content, and both together is the usual choice for onboarding and brand standards.
How much does custom training content cost?
Custom content is priced per course by length and format. A short course of up to 2,000 words and roughly three chapters is £160 as a PDF, £400 as video, or £500 for both. A medium course of up to 4,000 words and roughly six chapters is £320, £800, or £1,000 for both. A large course of up to 6,000 words and roughly nine chapters is £480, £1,200, or £1,530 for both. Every package includes consultation, research, expert content writing, professional graphic or video design, your own branding, certification, quizzes in every chapter plus a final quiz, and revisions at the package level. Volume discounts apply: 10 per cent for 5 to 9 courses, 20 per cent for 10 to 20, and 25 per cent above 20. Additional language versions of an existing course are discounted 70 per cent against the original price, and new clients almost always receive free custom courses as part of their agreement. Prices shown are indicative and exclusive of VAT, and are subject to final agreement.
Can existing training material be converted rather than rewritten?
Yes. Modification of existing Pocket Trainer content or client-owned material is a separate service to full course creation, charged on an agreed daily or hourly rate based on time spent. This is usually the right route for groups that already have a written SOP library or brand manual but need it turned into structured, quizzed, trackable courses.
Can custom content be produced in other languages?
Yes, in any language you need. Additional language versions of an existing course are charged at a 70 per cent discount against the original price, and the platform supports multilingual content throughout, with the interface available in Arabic, Spanish, Italian, French, Turkish and Hindi. For groups operating across the GCC, the UK and Europe, this means one course can run in several languages while reporting stays consolidated.
Who owns custom content once it is built?
Content built from a client’s own recipes, standards and material remains the client’s. Pocket Trainer’s own accredited library and platform modules remain Pocket Trainer’s licensed intellectual property and are not exportable. On termination, structured platform data such as menu items, quizzes and checklists exports as JSON, and uploaded documents, images and video return in their original format.
How many revisions are included?
Short packages include one round of revisions. Medium and large packages include two. Additional rounds beyond the package are quoted separately. In practice, the discovery stage is where scope is settled, so most projects use the included rounds for refinement rather than redirection.
How is custom content delivered to staff?
Finished courses are loaded into the platform and assigned by department, by role or to named individuals. Staff receive a notification, open the course on their phone, work through the chapters and quizzes, and receive an automatic certificate on completion. Managers see completions live and get alerts when staff are overdue.
